The spot is flat, really flat, shallow, and huge... perfect for free-riding, but also world-class spot for freestyler. It is already worldwide famous in the kiting community, with many international riders already coming, and quite a few kiting videos having been shot there... Straight downwind of the free-ride area, is the big teaching area, safe and perfect for beginners.

The Spot:
The main spot is shallow, with a sandy/muddy bottom. No shoes are needed, except if you don't like the feeling when you step on a muddy part :)
The wind is side shore: the shallow part is all along the spot (more then a kilometer long), and it stays shallow until the “reef” (the reef is a mixture of sand and algae), between 250 and 500 meter away from the cost depending on the place. Then it gets deep, until the other side of the bay, which is more then five kilometers away. When the wind is a bit strong, you can find small wind created kickers and waves, up to 1 meter high, on the reef.
Typical wind conditions:
Meltem wind: a trade wind from the north of the aegian straight, it is the same trade wind then in Greece or the rest of Turkey, with one big advantage, it is softer than on other spots as it comes directly from the sea, whereas on most spots it is a bit gusty from coming over land.
It can be strong or very strong some days, but most of the time it is around 20-25 knots in the morning and slowly decreases after mid day.
On the “light wind days”, it is still windy in the morning (the spot being between two hills, there is a local effect that brings the wind on the spot, a sort of thermal wind).
Seasons:
Mid May to October, full season is mid/end June to mid/end September. In the full season, expect 80 percent windy days: windy all the time, with maybe once every two days one or two day without wind. In the low season, it between 50-75% windy days. You can get four or five days with no wind, then a week with full wind...
Temperature:
From mid june to september, it is warm. Maybe just a thermal top for the very windy days were the water cools down a bit. In May a short wetsuit is enough for most people, maybe a half long wetsuit if you want to spend five hours in the water :)

Secret Spot
Straight across the bay, 20 minutes ride upwind from the main spot, this spots works really well in a bit more westerly winds conditions: it is a sand bank straight out to the sea, with makes the spot ultra flat. A bit small, it is perfect for five kiters! You might need a rescue boat there as it is an offshore spot.

Pırlanta Beach
About 40 minutes drive from the Urla Surf House, this beautifull spot, full of turtles, is a wavy onshore spot. If you like small waves, this spot is your spot!

Orsa
This spot is in Alacati, half an hour away from the Urla Surf House. Perfect spot for Lodos conditions (south winds), it is shallow and flat. This type of wind only comes in the off season, it can still be available in May, or come back in October.
