Stable wind, perfectly flat water, warm waters and a kitesurfing atmosphere all the way to your hotel !
Coche is a small island off the coast of Margarita, with very few inhabitants, and much less crowded than El Yaque, « the » big spot in Venezuela. The spot is perfect : large, super flat, you will not be bothered by tourists on the beach (which is reserved for kiting), regular and perfectly offshore wind, no obstacles, no danger, rescue boats, impressive wind stats and super good kite atmosphere on the spot !
And the best sunset sessions...
From January till June, the wind stats are more than 80%. Difficult to do any better ! However, in October, November, December, as well as in July, the wind is already there, the stats being between 60 and 70% above 15 knots.
The wind is a regular tradewind, between 15 and 25 knots, it rises from time to time between 15 and 30 knots in late afternoon.
And of course, as strong as the wind can be, the spot stays flat...
Rescue boats are available to go pick you up in case there is a problem, to follow you if you're a beginner, or just if you cannot ride upwind. Ideal to begin, this spot is also among the ones the « pro » riders like best to go training every year !
As the wind is from east, the sun goes down west just in front of you, which gives us crazy sunset sessions every time...
Coche is a small 165 sq km island, located 12km off the world famous spot of El Yaque, on Margarita Island, Venezuela. Almost desert, this small island only has one village, San Pedro de Coche, 10 minutes away in taxi or a 45 minutes walking disance from the spot.
The long white sandy beach between kitebeach and San Pedro, dotted with a few hotels, is paradise... But the wind is always present and one will very seldom want to go away from the spot. In case you would however enjoy a little the island, boats can take tou to a few reefs west of the islanad to admire the coral reefs and a few wreck, or tours of the island horse riding or by quad can be offered. Margarita Island is also very close (a 20 minute ride by ferry) and plenty of touristic activities will be available there !
For those who are looking for a night life, El Yaque is only 20 minutes by shuttle and you will find there everything you need !

Brisas del Mar is located 300 m from the spot, 100 m from the beach.
Large rooms, comfortable, with swimming pool, bar and restaurant, the hotel is all-inclusive (all drinks including alcohol- and meals).
This is the hotel where most kitesurfers go, to get away a little from the bigger hotels on the other side of the beach.
So, whether alone or with friends or family, the athmosphere at the hotel is always pleasant between kiters.
Getting there
Before getting to Coche, you need to fly to Margarita, Venezuela, from where the pick-up is organized. You can find flights from Europe or America easily, all of them stops first in Caracas.
