Urla, or more precisely the small village of Gulbahce, in Urla, is a small fishing village in the heart of the Aegean cost or Turkey. The Metlem wind hits the perfectly flat and shallow spot the whole year long, but specifically in the two main summer months: July and August. Come and discover this wonderful spot in this wonderful small village!
The Spot
The spot is in a big bay, on the west side, next to a small river mouth. The spot is huge (5 km to wide, and 1.5 km long)... All along the 1.5 km beach, there is 500 meter perfectly flat water, thanks to a sand bank. The spot is shallow in the flat area, and deep in the open. If you leave the shallow area, there is a small island in the middle of the spot, and an offshore sand bank spot is straight across the bay! If you are lucky, you might even ride with the Careta Careta, the local sea turtles in the Aegean coast!
On the beach you will find a small kite center, with shade, seating, a shower, assistants, and food and drinks are just 75 meters away. The hotel is straight across the beach!
The Wind
The wind is funneled through the bay, and thanks to a small local thermal effect, is always a bit stronger in the mornings.
The local wind is the Meltem wind: it's a wind that covers the whole Aegian sea. Although it comes all year long, the main season is from mid may to end of september, with the best month being july and august.
The wind is side-shore on the spot: perfectly safe and easy what ever your level!
Gulahce, Urla
Gulbahce is a small fishing village with old stone houses, in the Urla region, in the middle of the Aegien coast of Turkey.
Izmir, the main city, is 40 minutes away, and Alacati, the main touristic town next to it is 25 minutes away. Loads of activities are available in the region: historical visits in Ephes or Urla, beautifull landscapes in Pamukale, great beaches in Datca and Karaburun, the main city of Izmir, and of course Alacati, beautifull town!
Your Hotel
Urla Surf House is directly on the kite beach! It has a unique athmosphere, created around the surf and skate culture, and beautiful and spacious rooms.
But the main thing about the Urla Surf House, is all the activities you can find there: swimming pool, bar, restaurant, beach view terrace, but also a skateboarding ramp, Stand-Up paddle boards, wakeboarding obstacles and winch...
Getting There
To get to Gulbahce, you need to fly to Izmir International Airport (write to us for advice to find the best plane tickets), were your airport transportation is arranged (40 minutes).
Izmir is the third biggest city in Europe, and the main hub for the whole Aegien cost of turkey: you can find direct flight from certain airports, and is only a 45 minutes flight from Istanbul.

Progression and Coaching Camps in Ulra will be in July and August: from the 4th to the 11th of July 2015, then from the 1st to the 8th of August 2015, and from the 22nd to 29th of August 2015!
